Appointments

Consultations are by appointment. You may consult with any doctor, but it is best to stay with the same doctor during the course of any illness.

Non-urgent advice: Notice

We offer appointments on the day by calling at 08:30 am, 8 weeks in advance or 14 days to meet the government target.

Our appointments are available to book up to 8 weeks in advance and the remainder are released at 08:30 am on that day.

We always try to offer an appointment on the date requested but it may be necessary to wait longer to see a specific doctor. Please try to book appointments in good time and, for routine matters, avoid telephoning first thing in the morning.

Currently we have a limited number of appointments available for booking on-line. Please see the posters in the surgery waiting rooms or ask at reception to register.

The availability is limited and can only be used for booking an appointment with a doctor in advance. Please try and be punctual and remember each appointment is for one person. If you are unable to attend or it is no longer necessary, please let us know so that another patient may use the appointment.

On average we lose 50 slots per month because people fail to keep their appointments. Children who are ill will be fitted in as soon as possible at the surgery (this is usually quicker that a house visit). Please remember that children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Medical emergencies will always be seen that day.

Commuter Appointments

We now have one early morning and one late evening session each week:

  • Wednesday morning 07:30 – 08:00
  • Tuesday evening 18:30 – 20:00

These are pre-booked telephone or face to face appointments made up to 14 days in advance

During this time an entry phone will be used and reception will not be open for booking appointments, prescription collection or routine enquiries.

Disabled Access

There is access for wheelchairs and a toilet on the ground floor. If you cannot manage stairs please tell the receptionist at the time when you are booking your appointment. Please tell reception if you require assistance on your arrival.

Chaperones

If you would prefer to have a chaperone present during an intimate examination please tell the doctor or nurse. We will ask a member of the staff to be present.

Interpreting Service

We are able to organise interpreters for those patients whose first language is not English. Please let the Receptionist know that you would like a translator when you book your appointment

Telephone Advice

If you need to speak to the doctor for medical advice, the best time to ring is before noon on a weekday. You may be asked to phone back if the doctor is consulting.

Please remember that we prefer home telephone numbers as mobile phone reception can be poor. Messages will not be left on answer machines unless the householders identify themselves.

When returning the a call to us please ask for the person who left the message.
